The Distinguished Educator Award celebrates anesthesiologist educators who are dedicated to teaching. Earning this award may help those in academia gain academic promotion. Awardees will form a community that will serve as an opportunity for networking and mentorship. It is appropriate for senior anesthesiologists to apply for the award even if they exceed the threshold. In fact, a “catch-up” period is essential to form the desired community. The award is granted on an individual basis based on contributions in 6 different categories. You will upload your CV and self-score it based upon activities in those categories. Please count the activity whether it is ongoing or was completed in the past. Please count only activities that are predominantly focused on educational leadership, scholarship and curricular development. When in doubt, enter comments in the appropriate “other” category. Your self-scoring will be reviewed by the selection committee for accuracy. If you have questions, you may contact Rory Ravenscraft, r.ravenscraft@asahq.org. You may view the information you will need to complete the application here. Plan to have your CV available, both for upload and your personal reference when completing the form.
